2023: Week 6 - DSB Customer Ratings

For the second intermediate challenge, Data Source Bank are interested in surveying their customers. They're trying to work out whether users prefer to use the Online Interface for their banking requirements, or whether they prefer the Mobile App. Customers can be quite fickle and so it's probably best to take some of their ratings with a pinch of salt! We'll use an aggregated view to hopefully cut through the noise.

Input

The results of a survey asking customers to rate, on a scale of 1-5, different areas for the Mobile App and the Online Interface.


Requirements

  • Input the data
  • Reshape the data so we have 5 rows for each customer, with responses for the Mobile App and Online Interface being in separate fields on the same row
  • Clean the question categories so they don't have the platform in from of them
    • e.g. Mobile App - Ease of Use should be simply Ease of Use
  • Exclude the Overall Ratings, these were incorrectly calculated by the system
  • Calculate the Average Ratings for each platform for each customer 
  • Calculate the difference in Average Rating between Mobile App and Online Interface for each customer
  • Catergorise customers as being:
    • Mobile App Superfans if the difference is greater than or equal to 2 in the Mobile App's favour
    • Mobile App Fans if difference >= 1
    • Online Interface Fan
    • Online Interface Superfan
    • Neutral if difference is between 0 and 1
  • Calculate the Percent of Total customers in each category, rounded to 1 decimal place
  • Output the data

  • 2 fields
    • Preference
    • % of Total
  • 5 rows

2023: Week 2 - International Bank Account Numbers

Challenge By: Jenny Martin For week 2 of our beginner month, Data Source Bank has a requirement to construct International Bank Account Numbers (IBANs), even for Transactions taking place in the UK. We have all the information in separate fields, we just need to put it altogether in the following order: Inputs A list of the transactions, with information about the receiving bank account  A lookup table for the SWIFT Bank Codes  Requirements Input the data In the Transactions table, there is a Sort Code field which contains dashes. How to...Handle Free Text

Free isn't always a good thing. In data, Free text is the example to state when proving that statements correct. However, lots of benefit can be gained from understanding data that has been entered in Free Text fields. What do we mean by Free Text? Free Text is the string based data that comes from allowing people to type answers in to systems and forms. The resulting data is normally stored within one column, with one answer per cell. As Free Text means the answer could be anything, this is what you get - absolutely anything. From expletives to slang, the words you will find in the data may be a challenge to interpret but the text is the closest way to collect the voice of your customer / employee. The Free Text field is likely to contain long, rambling sentences that can simply be analysed. If you count these fields, you are likely to have one of each entry each.
